President and Chief Executive Officer
Rick has over 37 years experience in the automotive aftermarket industry, 31 of which have been at Reman Brakes. Rick’s experience at Reman Brakes includes 8 years of remanufacturing every type of power brake unit we sell, 23 years of working the parts counter, and countless years of restoring and modifying hot rods and street rods. As a recognized authority in the aftermarket brake market, Rick has been called to several accident scenes to work in conjunction with investigators as to the cause of an accident. During his tenure, Rick has also been instrumental in facilitating information to aftermarket manufacturers such as Bendix and Wagner in regards to improving upon original engineering specifications of brake systems. Rick is an avid hot rodder and street rodder, evident is his restored 40 Ford pickup that has been his project car over the past 10 years. He can be found on weekends with his daughter attending local and regional car shows and drag races.
Chief Operations Officer and Chief Financial Officer
Shay grew-up at Reman Brakes, spending endless summers and school breaks learning the nuances of the business. Shay is Rick’s son and JF Hilsman’s grandson, making him the 3 rd generation to work at Reman Brakes. Shay handles all the financial and operational affairs of the business, complementing the experience he gained during his childhood and early adulthood summers working as a tear down specialist, delivery driver and parts counterman. In addition, Shay attended the University of Tennessee, where he earned an undergraduate degree, graduating cum laude in wildlife biology, and received an MBA with a concentration in finance and new venture. Shay’s previous career in investment banking prior to Reman Brakes complements his automotive experience and has provided value added insight into Reman Brakes’s inventory control and supply chain management. Shay is an avid outdoorsman and has a deep passion for animals. One of his previous experiences included conducting black bear research in The Great Smoky Mountains National Park and The Great Okefenokee National Swamp.
Vice President, Operations
As an integral component to the operations of our parts counter, Shane has worked for Reman Brakes for over 9 years, all of which have been on the parts counter, troubleshooting and formalizing mechanical and braking solutions for our automotive and heavy duty customers. To complement his automotive background, Shane has previous work experience in the mechanical and electrical wiring industry, requiring thorough understanding of the intricacies of motors and general circuitry. In addition, Shane served in the Army and worked locally for the Dekalb Count Sheriff Department. Outside of Reman Brakes, he spends his spare time fly-fishing and hunting.
Vice President, Remanufacturing
Leading remanufacturer of power brake units with over 29 years experience at Reman Brakes. Ed is well adept at traversing from one application to another and in engineering units to satisfy custom needs. As a true tradesman, he is immeasurable with his ability to reassembly chrome plated units without damaging the finish, making bubble flares and standard double flares on custom brake lines, remanufacture specialty boosters for vehicles such as Ferraris and Bentleys, in addition to his normal duties insuring the remanufacturing shop runs smoothly. On the weekends, Ed can be found serving his church, where he is loyal deacon and respected family man.
